QUALITY AND STANDARDS

QUALITY

It is not for nothing that manufacturers in Northern Europe are the leading producers of poles in the world. Access to high-quality wood resources is a key success factor. Pine (Pinus Sylvestris) grows in our latitudes, which is recognized as the best raw material for the production of poles. In Northern Europe, the pine tree grows slowly and in competition for sunlight, its trunk becomes very slender. The vegetation period lasts only five months from May to September, the annual growth is usually less than a millimeter, so the wood is particularly dense and resistant to bending. Half of Latvia is covered by forests and the leading tree species with 47% is pine. It can be said that nature has done most of the work to ensure the quality of our products, but we take care of the rest.

SIA "Jauda-koks" has been in the pole market for a very long time, and we plan our work in the long term, so the sale of low-quality products is not allowed. It remains to disappoint your customer once, so that the market of the given country will be closed for a long time. And vice versa - if the customer receives quality products for years, a stable and successful long-term cooperation is formed.

1st stage

The first quality determination takes place already at the sorting of the purchased pole wood. It is a responsible process, so it is carried out by specially trained specialists from the company "VMF Latvia", who provide an outsourcing service to our company. Various wood defects, too much branching and tortuosity are the main reasons for wood failure.

2nd stage

After the pole wood is stripped, it is stacked in well-ventilated cross stacks under the open sky with a distance of at least 40 cm from the ground. In this way, the wood is stored for at least 6-9 months, until the moisture level reaches 25-28% and the intercellular space has been freed of free water, so that the wood preservative can be absorbed under pressure instead.

3rd stage

We also have a special solid wood drying dryer, in which approximately 400 poles can be dried simultaneously in 10-12 days, but our experience clearly shows that deep cracks are formed in the too fast drying process. At the moment, we use the chisel only when the wood of the posts has already practically dried under the open sky, but it must be put in the dryer for a few days to ensure uniform quality.

4th stage

Autoclaves were modernized in 2016, and this process is fully automated. The operator only has to measure the volume of the wood to be impregnated and calculate the amount of wood preservative to be injected, and the further process takes place automatically until the entire required amount of preservative has been impregnated. At least once a month, when we receive the next batch of wood preservative, the supplier takes samples of the working solution for testing in an independent laboratory in Great Britain. In parallel with our own quality tests, this double control takes place in order to prevent the sale of defective products.

5th stage

When the product is ready for shipment, third-party inspectors from international companies such as "SGS", "Bureau Veritas", "Germanischer Lloyd" etc. come to our factory to determine the compliance of the manufactured products with the customer's standards. Depending on the quantity of product to be inspected, the inspection can take anywhere from one day to a week, as is usually the case when a customer has to ship an entire shipload. Inspectors freely select a certain number of poles to be inspected from the warehouse, whose diameters are measured, the depth of penetration is checked, there are no unacceptable defects on the surface of the poles, and a bending test is also performed.
